PRODUCT IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET BEFORE RELOCATING,  
SERVICING, OR CLEANING IT.

This product is intended for indoor, non-commercial, household use for temporarily  
heating residential rooms. Do not use the product for any other purpose.  
Do not leave the product unattended while it is in use. Always unplug the product  
from the electrical outlet when it is not in use.  
Keep the product out of the reach of children and pets. This product is not intended  
for use by children.  
Close adult supervision is necessary when using this product near children or pets.  
Do not use the product while sleeping or place near a person sleeping.  
Place the product on a flat, steady, stable, heat-resistant surface.  
This product has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas  
where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored, as there may be a  
risk of fire or explosion.  
Use the product in a well-ventilated area. This heater is hot when in use. To avoid  
burns, do not let bare skin touch a hot surface. If provided, use handles when  
moving this heater. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding,  
paper, clothes, and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9 meters) from all sides of the heater.  
Always maintain your distance from the product while it is in use to avoid serious  
burns and other personal injury.  
Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended  
by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or personal injury.  
Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as  
this may cause an electric shock, fire, or product damage.  
To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intake or exhaust in any manner. Do not  
use on soft surface, such as a bed, where openings may become blocked.  
Wipe the air openings clean if they become clogged.  
Do not use this product to dry or heat clothing, shoes, pipes, or any other item.  
This heater is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas, or other damp/wet  
locations.  
Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.  
Do not move the product when it is heated. Allow the product to thoroughly cool  
before handling it.  
Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the product manufacturer, as a  
risk of fire, electrical shock, or serious personal injury may result.  
Attachments, when furnished, may become hot during use. Allow any attachments  
to cool before handling them.  
Plug the product into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.  
Always connect the product to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) electrical  
outlet. Contact a qualified electrician to have a GFCI electrical outlet installed if one  
is not available.  
Do not allow the Power Cord to hang (e.g., over the edge of a table or counter) or  
place/run the Power Cord under rugs, carpeting, or in high-traffic areas where it may  
be tripped over or pulled.  
To disconnect the product, turn the controls to the “OFF” position, then remove the  
plug from the electrical outlet. Pull directly on the plug; do not pull on the Power  
Cord.

Do not put any stress on the Power Cord where it connects to the product, as the  
Power Cord could fray and break.  
Do not plug or unplug the product from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.  
Keep the Power Cord and product away from heated surfaces.  
Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug, after the heater  
malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the product  
to a service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.  
This product is intended for indoor, non-commercial, non-industrial, household use  
only. Do not use outdoors.  
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS  
To avoid a circuit overload when using this product, do not operate another high-  
wattage product on the same electrical circuit.  
Avoid the use of an extension cord because the extension cord may overheat and  
cause a risk of fire. However if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be  
No. 14 AWG minimum size and rated not less than 1875W.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES  
WARNING! Read and understand all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions  
listed below may result in electric shock, fire or serious personal injury. The warnings,  
cautions, and instruction discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible  
conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that  
common sense and caution are a factor which cannot be built into this product, but must  
be supplied by the operator.  
READ AND SAVE ALL INSTRUCTIONS!  
CAUTION: A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal injury  
resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are  
available from local hardware stores and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If  
an extension cord is required, special care and caution is necessary. Also the cord must  
be: (1) marked with an electrical rating of 125 V and at least 13 A., 1625 W., and (2)  
the cord must be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop  
where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally.  
ELECTRIC POWER  
If electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliances may not operate  
properly. The appliances should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other  
operating appliances.  
POLARIZED PLUG  
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety  
feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized  
outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still  
does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.  
SAFETY WARNING  
Although your appliance is easy to operate, for your safety, the below warnings must be  
followed:  
1. Do not place the appliance near a heat source.  
2. Never leave the appliance unattended while connected to the electrical outlet.  
3. To avoid any accidental burns, never put a hand over a steam/heat vent or cover  
when the appliance is in operation.  
4. Use the appliance on a stable surface away from water.  
5. Do not unplug the socket by pulling on the supply cord.  
6. The appliance must be unplugged:

OPERATION  
During the first few minutes of initial use, you may notice a slight odor; this is normal and  
will quickly disappear.

TO OPERATE  
1. Place the product on a flat, steady, stable, heat-resistant surface.  
2. Plug the Power Cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.  
3. To turn on the heater, rotate the Power Switch to the desired setting: FAN (no heat),  
LOW (500 watts), MED (1000 watts), or HIGH (1500 watts).  
4. Set the Thermostat Knob to the desired level.  
5. To turn off the heater: rotate the Power Switch to the “OFF” position.  
6. Unplug the product from the electrical outlet if leaving it unattended or while it is not  
in use.  
TO SET THE THERMOSTAT  
1. Turn the Thermostat Knob clockwise all the way to the end of its range.  
2. Allow the heater to warm up until the ambient room temperature reaches your  
desired comfort level.  
3. Slowly turn the Thermostat Knob counterclockwise until the heater turns off. Turn  
knob slightly clockwise until heater turns on again.  
4. The heater will start up again and turn off to maintain the current room temperature  
at that thermostat setting.  
NOTE: The lower the thermostat setting, the lower the room temperature. The  
higher the thermostat setting, the higher the room temperature.

MAINTENANCE  
CAUTION:  
Always be sure that the appliance is switched OFF before cleaning or  
attempting to store the item.  
Do not immerse heater in water or allow water to drip into the interior of the  
heater, as this could create an electric shock hazard.  
CARE AND CLEANING  
CAUTION: Allow the product to completely cool before handling or cleaning it.  
Ensure the Power Switch is in the “OFF” position and the Power Cord is unplugged from  
the electrical outlet before cleaning the product.  
Always ensure the product’s housing is intact and completely assembled before each  
use.  
Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use the handle of the product.  
Clean the exterior surface of the product by wiping it with a soft, damp cloth.  
CAUTION: Do not allow water or other liquids to run into the interior of the  
product, as this could create a fire and/or electrical hazard.  
Do not use any abrasive cleaners or solvents, as product damage will occur.  
The fan motor has been lubricated at the factory and requires no additional  
lubrication for the life of the product.  
Clean the dust filter at least monthly or more often if dirty. A dirty filter could  
restrict airflow and cause the heater to function improperly or shut down.  
Unplug heater from power source.  
Remove filter from heater.  
Place filter under running water until clean. Let filter dry completely.  
Replace filter.  
Store the product in a clean, dry place when it is not in use.  
TIP: Regardless of the type of heating system setup, always install and maintain at least  
one smoke detector in good working condition on each floor of your home. Periodically  
check and/or replace the battery in your smoke detector with a fresh battery.  
STORING  
When storing heater during the off season, be sure to store it in dry area. Wrap the power  
cord into a neat package. The power cord should not be in contact with sharp edges, and it  
should not be compressed by heavy objects.  
Allow the appliance to cool completely before storing. Store the appliance in a dry  
location. Do not place any heavy items on top of appliance during storage as this may  
result in possible damage of appliance.  
Store the cord in a clean, dry location away from metal objects. Always check the plug  
before use to assure metal items have not become attached.

TROUBLESHOOTING  
SAFETY PROTECTION SYSTEMS  
This unit has protection safeguards that shut off the unit when components become  
excessively hot or if it tips over.  
IF OVERHEATED  
If heater becomes overheated, it will shut down automatically and the yellow  
Overheat Indicator will illuminate.  
Remove any nearby objects that may be causing overheat conditions. Keep at  
least three feet of space on all sides of the unit to allow adequate air circulation.  
Use the unit in a well-ventilated area.  
Place the unit on a flat, smooth, stable surface.  
The unit will restart automatically when it has cooled sufficiently: the yellow  
Overheat Indicator light will turn off. Note: This cool-down period could take  
30-45 minutes.  
IF TIPPED OVER  
If the unit tips over onto its front or back, it will shut down automatically. The yellow  
Overheat Indicator will NOT illuminate at that time. Place the unit on a flat, smooth,  
stable surface in order to prevent it from tipping over again. Caution: Front of unit will  
be hot. Handle with care. The unit will restart automatically. Note: The unit will not  
shut down if tipped over onto either side. If this occurs, simply replace unit to the  
upright position.

Heater item #4483 was tested and meets our stringent quality standards. This  
product is warranted to be free from manufacturing defects in original materials,  
including original parts, and workmanship until January 24th, 2006 or 1 year  
with proof of purchase.  
The warranty is void if the defect is due to accidental damage, misuse, abuse,  
neglect, improper repair or alteration by unauthorized persons or failure to follow  
operation instructions provided with the product. This warranty does not apply to  
commercial use.  
The warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchase and  
does not extend to subsequent owners of the product. Liability under this  
warranty is limited to repair, replacement or refund. In no event shall liability  
exceed the purchase price paid by the purchaser of the product. Under no  
circumstances shall there be liability for any loss, direct, indirect, incidental,  
special or consequential damage arising out of in connection with use of this  
product. This warranty is valid only in the United States of America. This Warranty  
gives you specific legal rights. However you may have other rights that vary from  
state to state. Some states do not allow limitation on implied warranties or  
exclusion of consequential damages therefore these restrictions may not apply to  
you.
